East London, April 20, 2024 – Almost four months following the tragic passing of Bulelwa Mkutukana, better known as Zahara, her legacy continues to stir emotions and spark conversation across South Africa. In a bid to honor her memory and preserve a significant piece of her history, Zahara’s sisters, Bandezwa Mkutukana-Febana and Lumka Mkutukana, have embarked on a mission to organize a music concert aimed at raising funds for the conservation of her former residence in Little Falls Roodepoort, which was reportedly slated for auction last year.

A Noble Cause: The concert, scheduled to take place at the prestigious Orient Theatre in East London later this month, is not merely a musical extravaganza but a heartfelt endeavor to rally support and financial aid to save Zahara’s cherished home from the brink of demolition. Bandezwa Mkutukana-Febana emphasized the family’s financial constraints, stating their inability to compensate performers with their usual fees. Instead, participating artists are expected to contribute a nominal fee as a gesture of solidarity with the cause.

A Star-Studded Affair: Adding a touch of glamour to the event is the announcement of radio and television personality Lusanda Mbane as the presenter, signaling an effort to attract a diverse audience. The concert boasts an impressive lineup of musicians closely associated with Zahara and her musical journey, including Nathi Mankayi, Khanyisa Sabuka, Vusi Nova, Butho Vuthela, and Ivory Sikepe.

A Musical Legacy: Zahara’s music captivated audiences with its heartfelt lyrics and soul-stirring vocals, leaving an indelible mark on the South African music scene. Her untimely demise left supporters and family members grieving, and the benefit concert serves as a poignant tribute to her enduring influence and artistic legacy.
