Thembi Seete loses a loved one

vocalist, dancer, and actress Thembi Seete recently shared an earnest birthday message to the late Lebo Mathosa, a fellow group member and friend, before her untimely death.

Lebo, who was a vocalist and dancer for the music band Boom Shaka, met her tragic demise on October 23, 2006, at the tender age of 29. The musician was reported to have been flung out of a vehicle that crashed into a tree during a car accident and died at the scene.

In remembrance of her late friend and co-music band member, Thembi took to her Instagram page to share a heartfelt tribute to Lebo on her birthday. The post was accompanied by photographs of her and Lebo Mathosa, as well as recent pictures captured on the day of the celebration of Lebo’s birthday with the remaining Boom Shaka members, Junior Sokhela and Theo Nhlengethwa, at Darumo, Oskido’s restaurant.

In her caption, Thembi said, “Happy birthday, Angel #LeboMathosa. You have always been on our minds and in our hearts a lot lately.

“We talked about you every day and miss you so much. Yesterday was especially tough, but we found comfort in sharing memories with Oskido at Darumo (tagging Oskido and the restaurant) and enjoying your favourite dish, a special chicken chow mein. It’s just not the same without you. We miss you more than words can express. We feel your presence every single time when we are on stage. Thank you for the gift of music,” she noted.

The heartfelt message touched many fans, who also shared their memories and sentiments about Lebo Mathosa in the comments. The tribute served as a poignant reminder of the impact Lebo had on her friends, fans, and the South African music industry. The celebration at Darumo, filled with shared stories and favorite meals, reflected the enduring bond between the Boom Shaka members and their late friend.

Thembi’s post highlights the lasting influence of Lebo Mathosa’s legacy and the deep affection held for her by those who knew and loved her.
