Safta-nominated actor Matthews Rantsoma who portrays fan-favourite character Nhlamulo will exit Scandal! on Wednesday, 24 July.
How will his character get written out of the e.tv soapie?
WHAT IS WRONG WITH NHLAMULO?
Nhlamulo Maseko has been acting out of character since his recent doctor’s visit in Scandal!.
He hinted to his business partner and friend, Mdala (James Sithole) that he’s been having headaches, who then advised him to see a doctor.
We then see Nhlamulo sitting quietly in his car after his appointment. He appears to be lying to Mdala about what the doctor said.
Nhlamulo then announces he wants to “finally” take his wife, Vuvu (Mamarumo Marokane) on honeymoon and asks his parents to babysit their children.
His mother asks to have a moment with him and asks him on Wednesday, 10 July episode if he’s okay as she senses that something may be wrong with him.
He denies everything but appears to be hiding something. He also doesn’t seem as cheerful as his wife about their honeymoon.
The TVSA July teasers reveals that a family may be burying a loved-one, but don’t reveal the family’s identity.
Wednesday 24 July: “An unexpected revelation spins Vuvu’s life out of control.”
Tuesday 30 July: “A family is left furious and dishing out blame when their loved one’s sendoff is halted.”
Is Nhlamulo dying and will the Masekos and Vuvu bury him?
MATTHEWS RANTSOMA RESIGNS FROM ‘SCANDAL!’
Entertainment commentator Phil Mphela confirmed in May that the fan-favourite character Nhlamulo is written out of Scandal!
“Matthews Rantsoma dropped by Scandal! The actor, who joined the e.tv soapie in 2021 will be leaving the show. Rantsoma plays Nhlamulo on the show,” says Mphela.
Rantsoma joined the popular soapie in 2021 as Lindiwe’s (Nomvelo Makhanya) lover and a forex trader, Nhlamulo Maseko.
News of Rantsoma’s exit comes after the Broadcasting Research Council of South Africa (BRCSA) revealed in March and April that Scandal! lost its signature first position.
The long-running soapie lost its first position to e.tv’s fashion telenovela, House of Zwide, in March when SABC1’s soapie, Skeem Saam joined the 19:30 timeslot.
Other actors who recently left Scandal! include Melusi Mbele who played Jojo and Lerato Nxumalo who played Phakamile.
