Roughly R2 million-worth of items were destroyed in the fire that gutted Skeem Saam actress Innocent “Inno” Sadie’s house. This is according to Millicent “Milly” Mashile, who is Inno’s twin sister.
‘SKEEM SAAM’ ACTRESS INNO SADIKI’S HOUSE DESTROYED BY FIRE
Speaking to TshisaLIVE, Milly revealed that a fire broke out on Monday, 1 July, destroying her sister’s R3 million home in Fourways, Johannesburg. However, the cause of the fire was still unknown.
“They are doing investigations. They live in a thatch roofhouse which is easy to catch fire. There was no explosion or fireplace on, nothing like that,” she said.
Milly, who is a TV and radio presenter, said Inno’s husband – Pastor Phindulo Sadiki — their children and the nanny were lucky to have made it out in time as the fire spread very quickly.
“There were no injuries. The kids were in the house with their father and nanny but there were no injuries. The kids started screaming because they saw smoke, which alerted their father and nanny to check. By the time we got there, everything was gone. Nothing was saved,” she explained.
DONATIONS AND SUPPORT
Inno has since shared videos of the incident on social media. In addition, Milly posted the family’s banking details for donations.
“The house was around R3m and the things inside were about R2m because as content creators we have a lot of expensive equipment. Roughly R5m was lost. They had literally just finished doing renovations in the kitchen and bought appliances. They did a lot of work on the house. It was starting to feel like a home and then this happened,” Milly said.
On Tuesday night, Inno shared another video showing more of the damage the fire caused. The actress and Pastors Wives reality TV star, also thanked fans for their support, donations and prayers.
“Let me take this time to thank you my friends on X for your urgent response. Your love, prayers, donations and support means the world to me and my family. May God bless all of you. I’m lost for words.”
In another post, she thanked fellow actor Tumisho Masha for buying pyjamas and other necessities for her family in their time of need.
“Thank you Tumisho Masha. My kids went to bed with pyjamas tonight. You rushed to the shops to get necessities for my kids and hubby. They went to bed like everything is normal even when the situation is so terrible. I appreciate you my brother,” Inno wrote.
