When I look at the Miss South Africa 2024 winner, Mia Le Roux, only one word comes to mind : extraordinary !
As the winner of this year’s Miss South Africa pageant she gave her everything since day one. She was my on my top 3 list from the moment I saw her. She’s a talented and beautiful young woman who is an inspiration to many teenagers out there, me included.
“To let those who are included be inclusive to those who are excluded.” – Mia Le Roux. These words will forever be my motivation when it comes to my modelling career.

Le Roux (28), a marketing manager, model and part-time BCom marketing student, hails from Rosebank in Cape Town, but was born in Sasolburg, Free State and later raised in Oudtshoorn.
I believe I deserve to win the title as I embody resilience, strength and the ubuntu spirit within South Africa. As a deaf woman with a cochlear implant, I represent a community that often goes unheard,’ said Le Roux, in her application for the pageant.

‘I am here to prove that, despite being differently-abled, it has not affected me. My journey is a testament to the power of dreams and determination we all possess,’ Le Roux added.

This was not her first foray into ‘the world of beauty pageants’.

Le Roux had previously won titles such as Miss Struisie, Miss Garden Route, and Ultimate Wildcat.

In addition, she also made it all the way to the Top 5 in Miss Deaf South Africa, according to Smile FM.

Le Roux was joined by her contenders in the pageant’s Top 3: Nompumelelo Maduna was the runner-up to the crown and Onalenna Constantin claimed third place.

Media personality Bonang Matheba, who hosted Miss SA finale announced that Mia le Roux was crowned the new Miss SA at the SunBet Arena in Pretoria on Saturday, 10 August.


 

 

 

 

The 28-year-old beauty queen from Oudtshoorn is a marketing manager, model and part-time BCom marketing student.

Le Roux was diagnosed with profound hearing loss at the age of one and shared that her community rallied behind her to give her the gift of hearing, inspiring her desire to make a positive impact and break barriers.

Miss SA 2023 Natasha Joubert passed down the crown to her successor. The new Miss SA was crowned with the coronet dubbed Mowana, courtesy of Nungu diamonds.

The runners-ups were Nompumelelo Maduna and Onalenna Constantin.

Rolene Strauss was Miss South Africa and Miss World 2014. Strauss who was invited as a judge in the Miss World 2018, became the first Miss World from the 2010s to become a judge in a Miss World final.
Leandie du Randt is an actress, presenter, voice artist, model, author and entrepreneur. She served as a judge on Crown Chasers.
Jo-Ann Strauss is an entrepreneur, international speaker and former Miss South Africa 2001. She represented South Africa at the Miss Universe and Miss World pageants in 2001.
Lerato Kganyago is a radio personality, actress, model, media personality and DJ who was crowned Miss Soweto in 2002
Thembi Seete is an actress, musician, who is best known as a member of former kwaito group Boom Shaka.

SAD: Malome Vector to be Laid to Rest : BY His Little Daughter

Fans were deeply concerned after witnessing the heartbreaking sight of the late rapper Malome Vector’s young daughter crying inconsolably. The poignant scene captured the immense loss felt by those closest to the musician, adding a layer of profound sadness to the mourning process.

On Saturday, August 10, friends, family, and fans gathered to pay their final respects to the rapper and songwriter, whose real name was Bokang Moleli. Malome Vector, who tragically lost his life in a car accident on July 24, will be laid to rest in his hometown of Roma Section, Maseru, Lesotho.The funeral service took place at the Roma Christ the King High School grounds before proceeding to the cemetery. This emotional farewell comes just two weeks after the devastating accident on the N8 in Bloemfontein, Free State, which claimed three lives, including Malome Vector.


 

 

 

 

 

 

The memorial service for the 32-year-old musician was held on Wednesday, August 8, at the Lehakoe Recreational Centre in Maseru. Mourners gathered to share their cherished memories of Malome Vector, celebrating his life and contributions to music.The tragic accident also claimed the lives of musician and producer Lizwi Wokuqala and videographer Musa “Da Mos” Nkondo. Two other occupants in the car, including up-and-coming musician Puleng Phoofolo, survived the crash.Lizwi was buried in his hometown of eThekwini in KZN on August 4, while Da Mos was laid to rest in Tshwane on July 30. The funeral of Malome Vector marks the final chapter in a series of somber farewells to those lost in the tragic accident.
