Ntombee Ngcobo-Mzolo to host the reunion special for The Mommy Club

TV presenter, actress and singer Ntombee Ngcobo-Mzolo will host the reunion special of The Mommy Club S2, premiering on Showmax on 10 June 2023.

Now in its second season, The Mommy Club set the record for the most social media views of any reality series on Showmax and saw the entire cast trend at the same time on Twitter (X) when a new episode dropped.

Watch the trailer for The Mommy Club S2The dramatic Season 2 finale featured a spiritual medium; the throwing of champagne; and confrontations where the mommies put all their issues on the table – so there is a lot to unpack at the reunion. There is a clear divide in the group. On the one side, you have Hermajesty and Mrs Mops and, on the other, Nunurai, Ratile Mabitsela and newcomer Mrs Sande, who was recently seen on social media hanging out with Hermajesty – has she switched camps? Newcomer Nozipho Ntshangase has remained neutral.

“As a fan of The Mommy Club, I am excited that I will host the reunion,” says Ntombee, who is a mother herself. “I relate to the ladies on so many levels and I know how fulfilling and challenging motherhood can be. My experience as a mother and a wife will come through at the reunion. As women, we wear so many hats and we juggle a lot, so I understand what the ladies are going through.”

Known for her singing, acting and radio career, Ntombee was a child star when she was part of Maskandi group Amaponi. As the daughter of the award-winning Ihashi Elimhlophe Bheki Ngcobo and musician Ebony Ngcobo, the entertainment industry is in her blood. She is also no stranger to reality television as she is part of Mzansi Magic’s Ofuze, a show that follows the life of the Ngcobo family.

Ntombee promises to take her hosting duties seriously. “So much happened this season and I will address all the issues that arose on the show with no fear or favour,” she says. “That is what the fans deserve.”

She says her approach will not be personal. “I am there to represent the fans and make sure that their voices are heard. It is not about me. I am going to remain neutral and make sure we get to the bottom of everything. I am going there and will try and understand each mommy’s point of view, to see how issues can be resolved so that they can move forward.”

She adds, “I want other mommies who are watching the show to learn from what the cast is going through; there is something to learn from each lady.”

“We chose Ntombee because she is a talented and dynamic broadcaster,” says Zinzi Velelo Alake, POP24’s executive producer. “She is a mom, wife and businesswoman and she has all the skills we need for this reunion. The ladies are very opinionated and so much has happened. Ntombee is the perfect conversation curator.”

Showmax has established itself as the best place to stream local reality TV in Africa, with the last week alone seeing the premiere of The Real Housewives of Nairobi Season 2 on Friday, the trailer for The Real Housewives Ultimate Girl Trip – South Africa dropping on Monday, and the first part of The Real Housewives of Durban S4 reunion landing on Wednesday.
