Despite claiming his new gig at Radio 2000 was an “April Fool’s Day prank,” DJ Sbu – real name Sbusiso Leope – has continued to front the station’s breakfast show.
And listeners are loving it.
Last week, the businessman and MoFaya creator made headlines after he announced that he had signed a contract and would be returning to the SABC, something he’d previously vowed not to do.
DJ SBU’S RADIO SHOW IS NOT A PRANK
On Monday, 1 April, DJ Sbu kicked off his show – titled the “No Name Breakfast Show – with Radio 2000″.
However, just minutes before signing off, the entertainer claimed that his new gig at the SABC station was just an “April Fool’s Day” joke.
He said in a segment: “Please don’t be angry. It was an April Fool’s joke. I’m not on Radio 2000, I was just kidding”.
He continued: “I really enjoyed it,…it might just be the best April Fool’s joke ever.”
The revelation was met with disappointment from his followers, who had thoroughly enjoyed his return to radio.
In the lead-up to the show, Sbu had posted pictures of his “contract” on his social media accounts.
Surprisingly, DJ Sbu reported for work again on Tuesday and Wednesday, despite his claims of the show being a “prank.”
On the X app, listeners have praised the business mogul for his experience and wealth of knowledge.
@Bikomfident: “Sbu will make you love radio. He just makes it fresh. Can’t replicate that. From his music choice, to how he interacts with co-hosts.”
