Melusi Yeni, Thembinkosi Mthembu bag first acting awards at the KZN Film & TV awards
Melusi Yeni took home his first acting award after 25 years in TV and film.Speaking of his winning role as Sokhobase in the telenovela Sibongile and the Dlaminis, Yeni said the character reflects his accomplishments in the industry.

Popular actor Thembinkosi Mthembu at the weekend won his first acting award at the 11th Annual Simon Mabhunu Sabela KZN Film and TV Awards.

The Simon Mabhunu Sabela KZN Film and Television Awards recognise outstanding achievement and excellence within the South African Film and Television industry, with a special focus on KwaZulu-Natal.Mthembu was awarded Best Actor–TV at the awards ceremony in Durban on Saturday. Mthembu won the top award for his role in “Shaka iLembe”, this comes after he recently celebrated his 30th birthday.He went on to wow audiences with his portrayal of Bandile in South Africa’s first modern day Western series “Outlaws” on Showmax.

Another first time winner at the Simon Sabela Awards was veteran actor Melusi Yeni, who is currently on Mzansi Magic’s telenovela “Sibongile and the Dlaminis” where he portrays the character of Sokhobase, which earned him the award.

KwaZulu-Natal has several reality shows that are dominating screens nationwide, leading to the introduction of a public voting category deciding on the winner. The Best Reality Show award went to “KwaNjomane” on Mzansi Magic.
