Former Bafana Bafana defender Matthew Booth has finally been granted divorce by the Johannesburg High Court against former supermodel Sonia Booth. The former Mamelodi Sundowns star and the mother of his kids were granted divorce on Friday.
Matthew was the subject of cheating allegations with the now divorced Bongani Mthombeni-Möller who was married at the time. Matthew and Bongani made headlines in 2022 when his ex-wife Sonia exposed the scandalous affair that played out publicly on social media after the soccer star baked a cheesecake for her in the middle of the night. Though Matthew and Bongani denied the affair at first, they made things official last year by sharing snaps of them being cosy, travelling together, and attending events together. Sonia had previously she suffered a lot from Matthew’s infidelity, which she said started more than a decade ago. She said then: “Saying I was horrified is a lie because I dealt with many women, especially around 2012 when he was living at our Cape Town property playing for Ajax Cape Town.”
THEY ARE BOTH DIVORCED

Sonia confirmed the news of her divorce finalisation to citing that she looks forward to the next chapter of her life. “I get to live another life in this lifetime”, it is well,” she said. Asked if she was in a relationship, Sonia said she needed to work on herself before she got into a relationship. ‘I’m going to take my time; I have a hectic schedule pushing my Cheesecake brand,” she said. Sonia also said that she has not thought of changing her surname and that her spiritual parents will guide her on the issue.
According to a source close to the former couple, after the divorce was granted, Matthew rushed to the airport to join Bongani and her children in Botswana to attend the Clash of the Legends football tournament. the source said. Matthew could not be reached for comment.
