Mama Joy has reacted to MaMkhize’s Royal AM club being sold

Unofficial Royal AM ambassador Mama Joy – real name Joy Chauke – has reacted to news of the club’s sale following owner Shauwn “MaMkhize” Mkhize’s legal woes with SARS.

The businesswoman has an R40 million unpaid tax debt linked to her line of companies, which are part of the Zikhulise Group.

MAMKHIZE REACTS TO ROYAL AM SALE
According to sports personality Andile Ncube, MaMkhize was dealt a massive blow by SARS this week.

He tweeted: “A sad day for our football, after months of speculations, it’s done. SARS has won, and Royal AM will be sold.”

The announcement follows a court ruling that the reality TV star must settle her unpaid tax debts. It’s unclear who will now take ownership of the club.
Reacting to the news, Mama Joy – Royal AM’s unofficial ambassador – tweeted to her followers: “Have mercy guys. It’s painful”.

The sports fan’s tweet comes a day after she posted that she “misses” her club, whose matches have been suspended by the PSL in recent weeks.

MaMkhize has not officially responded to the news.

ON MAMKHIZE’S PAYROLL?
With Royal AM’s days possibly numbered, many sports fans have questioned if this will affect Mama Joy’s membership or even pocket.

In 2023, Chauke denied reports that she receives a stipend from MaMkhize for being a Royal AM supporter.

Speaking on Robert Marawa’s Marawa Sports Worldwide, Chauke admitted she was friends with the businesswoman and often attended the PSL club games.

When Robert bluntly asked if MaMkhize paid her for her unofficial ambassadorship, she responded: “No. “People are going to say, ‘You chowed Mamkhize’s money’. I don’t know what to say!

“I’m a Royal AM supporter, and she will follow me and check in on me. I don’t get paid by her for what I do. I do it for the love of the game”.
