Early Life and Education
Lamiez Mischa Miriam Holworthy-Morule was born on June 12, 1992, in Eersterust, South Africa, and grew up in Laudium.
She attended several primary schools, including Andrew Anthony Primary, Sunnyside Primary, and Kwaggasrand Primary, before studying at Pro Arte Alphen Park in grades 8 and 9.
In 2009, she matriculated from Laudium secondary school and later pursued a media studies course at Boston Media House in 2012.
Career
Lamiez began her career as an underground disc jockey while mastering the art of mixing in 2010.
Her first experience in the entertainment industry was as a guest presenter on KMTV on Soweto TV while she was still in high school.
She later emerged as the host of the South African lifestyle show Living The Dream, which aired on Tshwane TV.
Despite almost leaving the industry after an audition where her car was vandalized and her DJ equipment was stolen, she persevered for seven years, landing her biggest role as the host of SABC 1’s Live Amp.
Lamiez is also the official full-time DJ for Sun City Resort and the official Miss South Africa DJ for the past two years.
She co-hosts the Metro FM dance show Penthouse Session alongside South African DJ and presenter Lulo Cafe.
In July 2021, she was the presenter of the 27th South African Music Awards. She also released her debut single, “Sthokoze,” featuring the Lowkeys and Drip Gogo in August 2021, and was nominated for Best Amapiano Female DJ Act at the South African Amapiano Awards later that year.
Philanthropy
Lamiez started the Lamiez Holworthy Foundation, which provides aid to orphanages and safe houses for abused, abandoned, and HIV-infected and affected children.
The foundation also focuses on funding students from disadvantaged backgrounds with study materials, financial aid, and sponsors.
In October 2021, she was honoured at the South African Heroines Awards for her philanthropic work.
Personal Life
Lamiez is married to South African rapper Khuli Chana and is a stepmother to Khuli’s daughter, whom he had before their marriage.
They have two children but only share one between the two of them. Lamiez has opened up about how she enjoys being her husband’s daughter’s stepmother.
