SIVE MABUYA AS ZOLEKA
The Smoke and Mirrors actress Sive Mabuya discusses her role in How to Ruin Love with Sowetan.

“It was nerve-wrecking, but it was always something I wanted to do. I knew it was going to be tough. I knew I was going to be scared and nervous but in a good way and hopefully it’s one of many,” she says.

The talented actress adds that she’s been longing to play a character like her latest Netflix character, Zoleka.

“She’s someone who speaks isiXhosa and she’s from the Eastern Cape like me. So, I play someone who reminds me of an aunt or sister of mine. I resonated with her so much. In order to pull off a convincing act, I knew I had to allow myself to be ugly, hilarious, crazy and just over the top. I had to tap into every emotion to give out Zoleka.”

Netflix confirms that Mabuya stars alongside actor Bohang Moeko who portrays her long-term boyfriend, Kagiso.

Mabuya’s character believes that her long-term boyfriend, Kagiso is cheating on her. She takes matters into her own hands as she’s a cynic who is desperate to find out if Kagiso is being unfaithful.

Her character is left heartbroken as things don’t work out as planned and enlists the help of their families to get her relationship back on track.

Mabuya is also known for playing Nokwakha in Smoke and Mirrors, Xolile in Scandal! and Mkabi in Shaka Ilembe.
