‘Humbled’ Pitso Mosimane receives honorary doctorate from UJ

The University of Johannesburg (UJ) conferred an honorary doctoral degree upon Pitso Mosimane, on Wednesday, 25 July.

UJ CONFERS HONORARY DOCTORATE
Former Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane was conferred an honorary doctorate by the University of Johannesburg.

The Faculty of Health Sciences at UJ recognises his exceptional contributions to the sport and his commitment to excellence and innovation.


 


 

 

 

The SABC reports that Mosimane has served football for over 40 years and made his professional debut at Jomo Cosmos in 1982 at 18 years.

He’s played in Greece and Belgium and began coaching in 1995. He was appointed head coach of SuperSport United 20 years ago.SOUTH AFRICANS CONGRATULATE HIM

PITSO MOSIMANE: ‘HUMBLED AND HONOURED’
Pitso Mosimane said he’s humbled and honoured to be the recipient of the honorary doctoral degree from the University of Johannesburg.

In his acceptance speech, Mosimane says: “I am honoured and humbled to stand before you today as the recipient of this honorary doctoral degree from UJ. This moment is a testament to the incredible journey I have had. One that has been shaped by the power of education and the game of football.”

South African Football Association president Danny Jordaan and Molefi Oliphant attended the ceremony.

The SABC reports that Jomo Sono, who discovered Mosimane says he is grateful for the university’s gesture.

“I take my hat off to the University of Johannesburg for honouring Pitso Mosimane while he is still alive. Because football people won’t do it, it’s not possible, they wait for you to die. They honour you and talk all the nonsense they want to talk in your graveyard or when your box is there.”
