South African DJ Ntombezinhle Jiyane, popularly known as DJ Zinhle, opened up about the name change of her reality show and what viewers can expect in an exclusive interview with The South African.

DJ ZINHLE OPENS UP ABOUT REALITY SHOW NAME CHANGE

Businesswoman DJ Zinhle and her family are returning for the fourth season of her reality show this month. While season one, two and three were titled DJ Zinhle: The Unexpected, the fourth season is now titled DJ Zinhle: Bossing Up. The fourth season of the reality show will premiere on BET (DStv channel 129) on Saturday 20 July at 19:30. DJ Zinhle: Bossing Up will air on Saturdays.

In an exclusive interview with The South African, DJ Zinhle revealed that the “unexpected” stopped being applicable and the change also fitted the big celebration for the season. This is the celebration of DJ Zinhle being in the entertainment industry for 20 years.

“I think the big thing for me… the first season was the unexpected because the pregnancy was unexpected, but as the season went the name became less and less applicable to the show and we thought okay this is a 20-year season. So, we were trying to show how much work has been done over the 20 years that can show how big this moment is, and we tried to find an appropriate name that can bring attention to this moment that we are trying to celebrate,” she said exclusively to The South African.

The Umlilo hitmaker also revealed that viewers will see her hustling with her family again this season.

“The big silver lining of the fourth season is the 20 year celebration of DJ Zinhle. So, I’m just hoping for the most iconic season ever, that just brings light to the work I’ve done over the last 20 years. You’ll see my family and how we are just hustling together. We are centring it around the festival and the preparations for that and to celebrate this 20 year milestone,” she continued.

THE REALITY STAR ON FAMILY
DJ Zinhle went on to say that her family will be more present than ever in the fourth season of her reality show they work closely together.

“I think my family will always be present in everything that I do. And because that’s just how our lives are set up. My family is a big part of my life and I am a big part of their life and we also have built a structure that we work so much closer together than ever before. And even that was intentional. So, I can have my family with me all the time,” she said.

“Another thing I learnt in the industry is that friends are great but my anchor is really my family. And being able to keep them close is a blessing for me. So, you’ll always see them in everything that I do,” she continued.

WHAT HAS DJ ZINHLE IN THE LAST 20 YEARS?
When DJ Zinhle was asked what she learnt in the last 20 years of being in the entertainment industry, she said:

“I’ve learnt the importance of remaining authentic to yourself. I have also learnt the importance of not taking everything personal. I’ve also learnt the importance of family and being intentional about your life, vocalising the things you want to do. Praying about the things you want to do. Also, learnt how important it is to do things for yourself as opposed to doing it for other people. Because at the end of the day you have to be accountable for your own actions… I always rely on my own voice, and my family’s voice to make decisions for us, because we have to live that life.”

She also revealed that she is most excited about the Zee Nation Festival, which takes place on 9 August at the Johannesburg Expo Centre Nasrec.

“I am most excited for… the concert. For people to see how we are planning and working on this concert and how crazy we can be with our ideas. I think the biggest thing for us is this festival, we eat and think and drink this festival. We can’t think straight until this festival is done. So, I am looking forward to the airing of this festival because then I will be done with the festival also,” she said.
