Karabo Mokgara was born in Hammanskraal, a suburb of Pretoria, on March 13th, 1986. Both of his parents were involved in his upbringing.
Mostly, he spent his free time in the company of other DJs, watching and picking up tips. Karabo started his education at Mmamotse Primary School and finished high school at President Mangoepe Technical High School.
Malebo, his mother, gave him the name “Karri” when he was a baby, and he’s been going by it ever since. His daughter, Kairo, is a huge fan and often dances to his songs, so he gets a lot of inspiration from her.
DJ Knifeskido later exposed him to the world of electronic music.
In the entertainment business, he has more than a decade of experience working in various genres.
DJ Karri’s record label, Braveboy Music, aims to provide professional guidance and resources to emerging artists. Pretoria, South Africa’s most vibrant city, has been introduced to various artists through DJ Karri.
He began working at Carousel Casino as a DJ in 2004. Later, he became a resident DJ at Pats Pub in Hammanskraal, where he obtained a better offer from Chanel M nightclub, the most popular venue in town. While there, he also became a resident DJ. DJ Karri has a long-standing association with significant musicians, including Black Coffee, Riky Rick, Mr. Jazziq, and Somizi, and he has expanded the entertainment sector to a wide range of artists.
Other than DJing, Karri is a producer who began mastering in 2012 but was discouraged when things didn’t go as planned because he was discouraged at the time. But he had to bounce back and get his single, 012 Lifestyle ft. Prime de 1st, Kamo, the vocalist, and BL Zero introduce him to the world.
In 2020, he collaborated with BL Zero on the song “The Journey,” which was warmly received by South African radio stations and the charts.
It was in 2020 that he released The Journey with BL Zero, which did well on the South African charts and radio stations.
He released an EP titled I am Brave Boy, featuring BL Zero, Violet Minis, Mantjingilane, K- Sugar, and Pitso De Groove, among others.
