DJ FRESH TO CONTINUE WITH HIS GIGS AMID THE DEATH OF HIS EX-WIFE
DJ Fresh’s ex-wife, Thabiso Sikwane, died on 31 August, aged 50. However, her cause of death is yet to be established, but DJ Fresh has since revealed that it could ‘have been a cardiac arrest.

Speaking to the media, DJ Fresh revealed that he talked with his eldest son, Thato Sikwane Jr, who told him to honour their mother in all his bookings since it is what Thabiso Sikwane would have wanted.

 

 

 

 

DJ Fresh revealed that Thato said to him, “Dad, I hope that you are going to honour your gig bookings because that is what Mom would want.

“Just make sure you represent her, but please don’t cancel the bookings. Just like she did when Wandy, our 15-year-old, was born. Wandy arrived a tad early, and I had booked in Durban.”

DJ Fresh said, “I remember being busy trying to cancel that booking, and in between that delivery, she [Thabiso] said to me that when this baby pops today, you will honour your bookings.”

With an illustrious career spanning years, DJ Fresh has quickly become one of the most sought-after DJs in South Africa.

He has headlined a host of shows worldwide and shared the stage with some of the greatest acts in the world, including DJ Black Coffee.

A few weeks ago, DJ Fresh was trending after his clip in Ibiza with the Grammy Award winner made rounds on the internet.

However, DJ Fresh’s decision to honour his gigs has since divided Mzansi. Some fans believe he should have rescheduled them to mourn his ex-wife.

However, others believe that if Thabiso had loved him to fulfil the gigs, there is nothing wrong since most of them were at night.

A family statement has since confirmed that Thabiso Sikwane’s memorial and funeral services will be held on Friday, 6 September. The services will begin at 9:00 at 3C Ministries Church in Irene, Centurion.

Miss Universe owner Anne Jakrajutatip, also known as Anne JKN, has responded to calls for South African media darling Bonang Matheba to host the pageant next month in Mexico.

Bonang, who hosted the Miss SA finale last month, has previously been nominated by the public to head the biggest international beauty competition.

Miss Universe 2024 will take place on 16 November in Mexico. However, the hosts have yet to be announced.

On the X platform, South Africans have been advocating for Bonang Matheba to be given the opportunity to become the first African host of the pageant.

 

 

 

One user – @SelfieRunnerZA – tagged both Miss Universe and its owner, Anne JKN, in his appeal. He tweeted: “If you give her just this one opportunity, you’ll want her back hosting every other year. I’m sure Miss SA will only be too happy to send you tapes where she hosted over the years”.Anne’s tweet sparked a frenzy on X, with many South Africans taking it as an affirmation that the Miss Universe boss was, at the very least, considering the public plea.

In 2022, Steve Harvey parted ways as host of the Miss Universe pageant after five consecutive years.

The pageant also announced backstage commentators, former Miss Universe and Miss Philippines Catriona Gray, as well as TV presenter Zuri Hall.

Football player Thabo’s home to go on auction due to debt

Popular South African football star Thabo Qalinge has rejected Nedbank’s offer to assist him in selling his house after struggling to service his bond.

Nedbank lawyers, Molefe Dlepu Incorporate, wrote a letter to Qalinge informing him that, as of May 1 this year, his bond account was in arrears of over R251 000 and advised him to pay and keep the account up to date.

 

Alternatively, the bank urged him to put his home on the market.

“The property is put on the market for 90 days. We accept the purchase price you have agreed to,” reads the letter.

However, Thabo rejected the offer and still failed to pay up the debt, which led to Nedbank’s move to sell the star’s property.

According to Sunday World, Nedbank loaned the former Orlando Pirates player over R2.5 million to purchase a house in the posh gated estate of Eye of Africa in Johannesburg South on April 14, 2022.

Qalinge was supposed to pay back the loan in regular monthly instalments of over R 20 000.

“In breach of the provisions of the bond as read with the loan agreement, the defendant failed to pay the monthly instalments on the due date and, as of May 1, 2024, was in arrears in the amount of R 251 541.85.

“In the premises, the defendant has become liable to the plaintiff for payment in the sum of R2 659 230.76 plus interest at the rate of 11.75% and has failed, refused, and/or neglected to pay, and which amount is now fully due, owing, and payable to the plaintiff,” read the papers.

Chicco Twala sets the record straight about his son, Longwe Twala’s involvement in Senzo Meyiwa’s death.

The music producer addressed the accusation after he locked up his son in jail for stealing from him.

  

While the music legend was abroad, Longwe alongside his brother Sello Twala emptied their father’s house, stealing equipment worth more than R200,000.

Addressing the media in court, Chicco said, “The action I took now I took as a responsible parent. My son has been having problems with drugs from way back when he was about 17 years old. So now he is 39 and he is still the same. Nothing has changed. He’s been stealing from me, he’s been doing a lot of stuff. He’s been to more than 30 rehab centres. We’ve tried to assist him as a family, we tried everything we could and he doesn’t want to change.”

Chicco said he later accepted Longwe after his sister brought him back home from rehab.

“I had a meeting with them because the other one, Longwe, just came back from rehab. He was looking good, he was OK. We spoke and we said he must focus on his career. He is an old man, he must be responsible and take care of the business we had. He promised. I accepted him. My sister brought him and said he’s back now and he’s OK.”

“I came back on the 24th and found a lot of my stuff was missing and he was nowhere to be seen. Then I decided enough was enough. It’s time for him to be disciplined for his actions. One thing for sure is I want the law to take its cause.”

Jessica Mbageni’s memorial service is happening this Friday

Jessica Mbageni’s life will be celebrated by friends, family and dignitaries at her memorial service which will take place this Friday, 6 September.

The memorial service’s venue is the Market Theatre, Newtown, Johannesburg by 14:00. The theme is strictly traditional wear.

 

 

 

 

 

 

The family penned a lengthy note on the decead’s social media account, as they pay tribute to her.

“We are honoured to announce the official memorial service for the late Dr. Jessica Mbangeni, scheduled to take place this coming Friday, at The Market Theatre (Dr John Kani Theatre). The memorial service to celebrate her life and times as well as her contribution to the creative and cultural industries will start at 14:00. A dedicated theme of traditional wear during this time of mourning would be a reminder of her deep commitment to her culture and heritage.”
