A clip of the late AKA’s song interrupting Tatjana Smith’s homecoming speech has led many fans to believe he is “speaking from the grave.”

The rapper – real name Kiernan Forbes – was shot and killed last year in an alleged hit. He was known as a proud patriot who celebrated many South African victories.

Tatjana – who won gold and silver at the 2024 Paris Olympics – received a hero’s welcome at OR Tambo on Tuesday, 13 August.

The 28-year-old was part of the SA delegation who returned with six medals at the games.

In a clip posted on social media, Tatjana Smith thanked her fans for their love and support during her stint at the Paris Olympics.

The gold medallist – who recently announced her retirement – was seated next to Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture.

While she spoke, a cell phone next to her began ringing. Interestingly, the ringtone was set to AKA’s song Lemons (Lemonade). The single was part of AKA’s last album, Mass Country, which was released posthumously.

The memorial service of Crown Gospel Music Awards executive producer, Zanele Mbokazi- Nkambule has been confirmed.

Her family confirmed she passed away on Monday, 12 August at Parklands Hospital after losing the battled to cancer.

ZANELE MBOKAZI-NKAMBULE: MEMORIAL SERVICE
Zanele Mbokazi- Nkambule’s husband Bishop Mpendulo Nkambule announced on Instagram that her memorial service will be held on Thursday, 15 August at GNF Durban station.

The family also reveals that her funeral service will be held on Saturday, 17 August at Durban ICC.

The Mbokazi-Nkambule family confirmed Zanele’s passing in a statement: “It is with a heavy heart that we the Nkambule and Mbokazi family announce the passing of our dearly beloved Ms Zanele Mbokazi-Nkambule, founder of Crown Gospel Music Awards and Ukhozi FM radio personality.”

“She departed to be with the Lord, early hours of 12 August 2024, at Parklands Hospital. We are grateful for all the prayers, love and support we received throughout her illness,” reads the statement.

Mbokazi-Nkambule’s husband also confirmed in May on Ukhozi FM’s breakfast show that she the TV personality was diagnosed with lung cancer.

Nkambule said the family decided to make the diagnosis known amid rife speculation on social media regarding Zanele’s ill health, which has led to her absence from the airwaves.

Mbokazi hosted the station’s popular gospel show, Eshilo, every Sunday from 09:00 to 12:00.
