Thuso Mbedu turns 33-year-old

Thuso Mbedu celebrated her birthday while on a set of a movie-shoot.

The South African star has made abroad her home, as she’s been working with international producers and actors.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Taking to Instagram, Thuso announced her 33rd birthday and gave followers a glimpse into how she was celebrated by other people on set.

“Yooooo… what a wholesome day. I’m not one to rate my birthdays but this is definitely my fave to date. From waking up at 4am because we had an early call time to having my family on set and having “Happy Birthday” be sung on numerous occasions starting with @alisonjoliver in the makeup trailer while I was half alive 🤣🤣😂🤣🫶🏾 to everyone being doubly amazing. My heart is pumping custard 😭
I have so much more to say but I’ll stop there,” she wrote.

Thuso Mbedu was showered with love on her birthday and she’s grateful for the love.

“I generally don’t answer phone calls on my birthday 😅 (back in my youth I’d switch my phone off the whole day so if I missed your call today it’s because I have a habit of forgetting where my phone is on my birthday 🙈) I haven’t had a chance to open my text and WhatsApp messages but I’d like to extend my heartfelt thank you to every single person who has taken the time to wish me a happy birthday today. I appreciate it. This was legit the BEST start to my Jesus year #33,” the actress added.

Gayton McKenzie

New Minister of Sport, Arts, and Culture Gayton McKenzie will donate his first salary which is worth over R2 million.

The voice of South Africa’s new minister has been loud and clear since he took over from the corruption-accused Zizi Kodwa.

 

Gayton was touched by the plights faced by the artist in Kagiso, West Rand.

“I couldn’t believe that they managed to keep this gallery open despite the many obstacles. One of the ladies told me that at times, they must just accept any price for their craft because of a lack of taxi money to go back home whenever they are at different markets. It is truly a heartbreaking afternoon for me,” he said.

“These artists have been treated with disdain despite the many young kids that they are mentoring and keeping off the streets,” he added.

“Children as young as four years old visit this gallery, which is the second art gallery in the township. I sat with the artists and listened to their many problems while waiting until the money was in their different accounts. I saw gratitude mixed with tears,” Gayton said.

The minister said he will donate his annual salary to the registered Joshlin Smith Foundation for missing children.

“The lawyers are in the final stages of registering the foundation,” he said.

“Although I already received the first salary, which has not been paid over until finalisation of the foundation, I have instructed lawyers to pay over my salary to the gallery,” he added.

Kelvin Momo and Kabza De Small’s legal battle

Kabza De Small and Kelvin Momo are faced with a legal battle over a contract dispute.

Kelvin real name Thato Ledwaba was an artist under Kabza’s record label, Piano Hub, and the agreement was that royalties of the musician would be paid every six months, including promoting his music commercially.

 

However, Kabza failed at this and also failed to inform distributors and publishers that he no longer had an agreement.

Despite the hitch in the agreement, payment was made directly to Kabza’s label instead of directly to Momo.

Kabza and Kelvin had a close relationship, but the contract dispute has reportedly tainted their friendship.

“They were really close. They had a good friendship until the signing of the contracts. Sometimes you cannot mix friendships with business. PianoHub also has a lot of artists, and they battle to juggle all at once,’ a source said.

Kelvin has tried to cut ties with PianoHub and has taken the legal route, going to the Johannesburg High Court and demanding a sum of R1 million in compensation.

“This is for royalties and for failing to meet his contractual obligations,’ the insider said.
