‘Allegiance is with Nigeria’: PA doubles down on Chidimma criticism

Patriotic Alliance Deputy-President Kenny Kunene has doubled down on his criticism of Miss SA Chidimma Adetshina over what he claims is her “allegiance” to Nigeria.

The 23-year-old has come under fire over her parentage. This includes a Nigerian father and a South African mother of Mozambican descent.

Chidimma – who is a South African citizen – has been at the receiving end of xenophobic comments from fellow South Africans.

Earlier this week, the PA issued a statement claiming that they would pursue legal action to prevent the pageant contestant from the competition.

KENNY KUNENE SAYS CHIDIMMA’S ‘ALLEGIANCE LIES WITH NIGERIA’
Speaking to the SABC, Kenny Kunene claimed that they had taken an interest in Miss SA Chidimma Adetshina as the Patriotic Alliance was a party that wanted to “Put South Africans first.”

Kenny also referenced a video clip of Chidimma being embraced by Nigerians, which has since gone viral on social media. He also made mention of a clip – which has since been proved as fake news – of a Nigerian man, credited as being “Chidimma’s father”.

He said: “Miss SA is supposed to be the face of South Africa. How do you, a Nigerian, become the face of South Africa? How are Nigerians celebrating a contestant of Miss South?

“Her allegiance lies with Nigeria, not with South Africans.”Sport, Arts and Culture Minister and PA leader Gayton McKenzie and Miss SA finalist Chidimma Adetshina. The PA plans to prevent Adetshina from partiipating in Miss SA. Images: X Gayton McKenzie and Instagram/chi chi vanessa.
Kenny hinted that Chidimma’s ID could be fraudulent and also expressed doubt about Miss SA’s claims that they had vetted and verified her identity documents, including her South African citizenship.

He continued: “We can’t trust a private company that seeks to make a profit. We want a transparent vetting process”.

“Her full name is Nigerian. We have to test the validity and credibility of her ID”.

Kenny added that the PA would “go to court” to seek clarity on Chidimma’s nationality. It would also seek an interdict to have her expelled from the competition.

The video offered an intimate look at Biles’ road to Olympic glory. It was beautifully accompanied by Beyoncé’s emotive narration and a snippet of her track “JUST FOR FUN” featuring Willie Jones.

The video opens with Beyoncé’s soulful voice setting the tone, as she sings the opening verse of her song, according to People.

BEYONCÉ DESCRIBES POWER
The singer continues, highlighting the different facets of power.

“Physical power, its beauty, its wonder, the way it never stops amazing you. Then there’s spiritual power, the kind that really matters.

The power you can’t see, only sense.”

Beyoncé’s narration takes viewers through Biles’ remarkable journey, including a poignant reminder of the Tokyo Olympics.

There Biles faced the challenge of the “twisties” and had to withdraw from competition, according to the Rolling Stone.

SIMONE BILES AND THE PARIS OLYMPICS
This moment, captured in the video, underscores the mental and emotional struggles elite athletes face.

“And, of course, lasting power. Only a select few know what it feels like to get to the top and stay there and somehow keep getting better,” Beyoncé reflects.

The video transitions to scenes of Biles training and competing in the Paris Games.

Gold can be a hell of a journey, and the greatest of all time is willing to put that title on the line every time she walks out there.

Take your best shot, world. She’s ready for you.”

HISTORIC OLYMPIC SUCCESS
Beyoncé’s tribute is not the only highlight of Biles’ Olympic success. The gymnast’s achievements in Paris are making history, according to Billboard.

This further cemented her place in the annals of Olympic greatness.

Remember Bongani Fassie? This Is What He Is Doing Now.

Have you been wondering where is Bongani Fassie and what he is doing with his life?

In case you forgot him, Bongani Fassie who is 36 years old, is the son of late singer and legend Brenda Fassie. Till this day Mzansi listens to Brenda Fassie’s music and with the massive fame acquired by his mom, it put a lot of pressure on Bongani. He worked on some music but felt like his mother’s shoes were to big to fill.

After his mother passed away, he fell into a dark depression, contemplated suicide and got heavily involved with drugs and alcohol to cope. He then took a break from music six years ago to heal and focus on being a father of three children. And currently he is changing his life for the best and is on step four of his 12 step program to be completely clean from drugs.

Bongani has been away from the limelight for a long time and clearly he was missed. Bongani has been given the opportunity to set the record straight about everything, how his mother passed away, he claims that it was not due to a drug overdose like most people speculated and he is going to address everything we didn’t know about his life.

Bongani Fassie is finding his way back into the entertainment industry and has his own reality TV show that was aired last year on DSTV, Moja Love Channel. Hopefully we get to see more of him in the limelight.

Bongani Fassie throws shade at hospitalised Da LES?

Bongani Fassie has made a shady reference to his former friend Da LES – real name Leslie Mampe – after the latter was hospitalised after a stroke.

The former Jozi members have fallen out in recent years, reportedly over a dispute over a contract with their record label.

Bongani and Mampe were half of the popular hip-hop group that also included Ishmael Morabe and the late Luther “Crazy Lu” Cohen, who tragically died in 2019.

BONGANI FASSIE THROWS SHADE AT DA LES?
While celeb pals have been posting their well-wishes and pictures of Da LES on social media following his stroke last week, Bongani Fassie has kept a notable silence.

In fact, the son of Brenda Fassie confirmed that his friendship with the rapper was truly over.

Following news that Da LES has been moved to a public hospital and remains unresponsive, social media users flooded Bongani’s Instagram comments section.

“Have you checked up on Da LES?” asked one fan. Although Bongani did not directly respond, he did like a comment that asked: “Why must he?”

BEHIND THE BEEF
It’s no secret that Da LES and Bongani Fassie have had a strained relationship since their days in Jozi. Their bad blood emanates from a dispute over their record label, Ghetto Ruff, which Bongani prematurely left.

Speaking to MacG’s Podcast and Chill in 2020, Da LES said his move soured their friendship.

He said: “I decided to stay to finish the contract. He felt I may have broken his heart for choosing to stay with the label; I should’ve been riding with him.

“My pain started to occur when I was like, damn, this guy brought me into this sh*t, and he’s not listening to me. When he left a lot of pressure was on me.

In 2021, Da LES revealed in a Behind The Story interview that he “no longer answers” Bongani’s phone calls.

He said, “Where I’m at in my life is completely different from where I was, mind, body, and soul. It’s nothing personal. I always have the utmost love and respect for [him]. I wouldn’t be where I am today without his help.”Fast forward a few months, and Da LES would tell Lasizwe’s Drink or Tell The Truth YouTube show that he “never” wanted to work with Bongani professionally again.

He said: “I just surpassed that stage in my life…Over the years, there has just been a lot of back and forths and a lot of lies and at some point in your life as a grown-up, you need to be able to say ‘You know what, I am okay. I will catch you, and I am not shy to say it, it is what it is. Let’s keep the energy like that.”

Maps Maponyane reportedly set to marry ex-Miss SA Shudufhadzo Musida

Popular South African television personality Maps Maponyane is reportedly set to tie the knot with former Miss SA Shudufhadzo Musida.

It is alleged the couple are set to take the big step. The couple have been romantically linked since 2022.

Both Shudufhadzo and Maps are reportedly currently in the Seychelles, enjoying a luxurious tropical holiday.

Sources close to the couple suggest that a delegation has been sent to the village of Ha-Masia in Limpopo to ask for Shudufhadzo’s hand in marriage.

“Maps is serious about building a family unit with Shudufhadzo and he has contemplating on his decision for a while now, and it’s finally here. He can’t hide his intentions any longer as wedding bells are looming,” a source said.

Another source said: “His decision was made during their attendance at the HollywoodBets Durban July a few weeks ago. They have everything going for them in their careers.”

When pressed for comment by the publication, Maps didn’t confirm nor deny the allegations. He said: “You put me on the spot, you know I don’t like talking about my private life in the media (laughing). The thing is that I’m busy with my workout at the gym, hence I can’t talk properly (laughing).”
