Dricus managed to defend, and retain his UFC Middleweight Champion title in a fourth-round submission win over Israel Adesanya at UFC 305 on Saturday 17 August. This fell on Sunday morning (18 August) in South African time.

Adesanya, who hails from Lagos, Nigeria is a former UFC Middleweight Champion. So, why were Siya and Eben at the fight? Well, the match was just hours after the Springboks defeated Australia in 12- 30 in their second match of the Castle Lager Rugby Championship on Saturday 17 August. This also took place in Perth, Australia.
