‘Akanabo ubuntu’: Big Zulu and Dumi Mkokstad exchange words

Tsakane Stadium on Gauteng’s Eastrand hosted the annual Celebrity Soccer Tournament over the weekend. However, this year’s tournament was capped with drama and altercations, which have since thrust Big Zulu and gospel singer Dumi Mkokstad into the top trends.

ANNUAL CELEBRITY SOCCER TOURNAMENT MARRED WITH IRREGULARITIES
The much-awaited soccer tournament has fast become one of the most-watched yearly celebrity events. However, Big Zulu and Mkokstad had a heated verbal altercation during the finals. The Gqom and Gospel teams booked their spot in the finals after brushing off Maskandi and Hip Hop teams in earlier fixtures.

However, the final was marred with altercations and interruptions after tempers flared between Big Zulu and Dumi Mkokstad, who couldn’t agree on some of the stipulated rules of the game.

The latter accused the Gqom team of not fielding players as agreed. Mkokstad revealed that failure to field players as agreed gave the Gqom team an advantage. However, Mkokstad revealed that the Gqom team added nine non-eligible players, infringing on the tournament rules.

In the now-viral video, Big Zulu interrupted Mkokstad’s conversation with SABC Sports Presenter Andile Mncube.

Speaking on the sidelines of the stoppage time, Mkokstad said, “We came from Durban to come and play. When we got here, as Gospel, we had 11 eligible players based on the tournament rules, which set out, among others, that [at least] one woman has to play.

“Gqom, firstly, decided not to follow that rule. Secondly, DJ Tira claimed that he tried to include a woman in the game.”

Mkostad added, “According to the rules, a woman has to play for a minimum of 10 minutes. They only fielded a woman for the last four minutes of the match, disadvantaging Gospel.

“Mind you, they were already leading that game. DJ Tira also brought 11 professional players. Yet the rules state that the players must be artists and must have released albums.”

BIG ZULU TAKES A SWIPE AT DUMI MKOKSTAD

In a now-viral video, a belligerent Big Zulu rudely interjected Mkokstad and made it known that he had brought professional players over the years. Big Zulu, who wanted the games to continue, was captured saying, “You did the same thing last year. Now that it’s happening again, the game suddenly has to stop.”

In the other video making rounds on social media, Big Zulu is seen hurling insults at Mkokstad. He rudely addresses him as a boy live on camera and then accuses him of pulling stunts because his team is losing.

No doubt Big Zulu’s remarks have since seen him making headlines for the wrong reasons. Mzansi has since accused the award-winning of disrespect.
