Asavela Mngqithi comes to struggling Gcina Mkhize’s aid

Former Isibaya actress Asavela Mngqithi, fans, and more South African celebrities have donated to legendary actress Gcina Mkhize.

TshisaLIVE reports Gcina Mkhize’s former Isibaya co-star Asavela Mngqithi recently donated R2000.

The publication adds that Mkhize received more than R20 000 donations after her viral video where she asked for donations.

Mkhize tells the publication that other people have also made payments into her personal bank account, with the contributions adding up to more than R20,000 in total.

“I would like to thank each and every person who has made a donation to our BackaBuddy campaign. I would also like to thank those who have made a deposit into my personal account. All the money is making a huge difference in our lives. My children and I are eternally grateful. We are deeply humbled by your kindness,” she said.

She adds that her other industry friends such as Celeste Ntuli, Nomzamo Mbatha, Puleng Ndlovu, Retha M, Angie Sekgobane, Khanyi Tshabalala, Nomonde Mbusi, Muzi Mthabela, Khanyo Maphumulo, and Bongani Gumede have also reached out.

Mkhize also adds that her neighbours and people she grew up with also brought the little they can.

The former Isibaya actress Gcina Mkhize also tells Sunday World that she’s only worked for five days this year.

The last project Mkhize worked on was Showmax’s brand-new legal series, Law, Love, & Betrayal.

“Since the beginning of 2024, I have only worked five days. The acting industry is cutthroat, and secondly, when you stand up for yourself in this industry, people do not like you,” she says.

The actress also reveals that there are people who were probably still offended by the video she did about COVID-19 vaccines.

She adds that she’s made peace with the fact that the industry has its own people. She is ready to pack her bags and leave and venture into other things.
