The 26-year-old actor, best known for his role as Sokalezwe “Soka” on e.tv’s popular series House of Zwide, didn’t have an easy start. After earning his acting qualification from the Durban University of Technology (DUT), Nxumalo made the bold move to Johannesburg in search of better opportunities and to chase his dream of becoming an actor.

However, the path to success was anything but smooth. Upon arriving in Johannesburg, Nxumalo faced the harsh reality of trying to break into the acting industry. With limited opportunities and finances, he took up a retail job to make ends meet while tirelessly pursuing auditions and honing his craft.

Despite the financial struggles, Nxumalo’s dedication paid off when he landed the role of Soka on House of Zwide. His portrayal of the character has resonated with audiences, earning him recognition and a steady income. Today, he earns R45,000 for his role on the show, a significant milestone for someone who started with humble beginnings.
