As Zinhle reflects on this significant achievement, her remarkable journey serves as an inspiration to aspiring artists and music enthusiasts alike, highlighting the power of perseverance, creativity, and the ability to captivate audiences through the universal language of music. My journey as a DJ went by so fast. I didn’t know that I was going to wake up, and it was twenty years later. But just looking back, I feel like it was those things where you take things one thing at a time and one step at a time.
“When I started, I didn’t even have plans to be a DJ. I didn’t even think I’d be celebrating twenty years. It feels like I’m a fraud when I celebrate this milestone because I didn’t even want to be a DJ. But God has been good. I don’t want to lie though, I don’t know how I got here,” the DJ said.
In a testament to her burgeoning success, renowned DJ Zinhle is set to host a special show titled “Zee Nation” on August 9th at the Nasrec venue in Johannesburg. This event marks a significant milestone in the artist’s career, as she continues to solidify her presence in the digital sphere, particularly on the popular social media platform TikTok.
“My team was very big on deciding that I needed to celebrate this milestone. I’m glad they pushed me because I don’t do birthday parties. I don’t even celebrate myself, but I like celebrating other people. But I’m always so scared of celebrating myself, so this felt like the right thing to celebrate,” she said.
Zinhle’s growing fan base, affectionately referred to as her “Besties,” have played a crucial role in her recent rise to prominence, showcasing the power of grassroots support in the music industry. This upcoming event promises to be a celebration of Zinhle’s achievements and an opportunity for her devoted followers to come together and experience her dynamic artistry firsthand.
“When I say, “Hey Bestie,” I’m talking to my followers. I’ve been on many other social media platforms, but I didn’t have my own thing. I was always looking for something to do on TikTok that’s organic. I started having conversations where people could chat to me.
“And then a friend of mine said people don’t know how much of a clown I am and advised that I show people that. I then started narrating my day, and before I knew it, Bestie had formed. It became a real thing. I love Bestie because I feel like that is who I am,” DJ Zinhle said.
