Rising star Lethabo Mekoa opens up about playing Ntswaki in Skeem Saam.
ACTRESS LETHABO MEKOA: ‘MY HEART GOES OUT TO EVERYONE
The actress Lethabo Mekoa took to her Tik Tok account to reveal what it means for her to play the troubled teenager, Nstwaki in Skeem Saam.
“It took a lot for me to be able to shoot this scene! My heart goes out to everyone going through this or who have been in the same situation! Love and light,” she writes.
In the video, Mekoa’s shares a scene with Florence Masebe who plays Meikie and Mogau Motlhatswi who plays Mapitsi.
In the scene, Ntswaki is having second thoughts about revealing that she was raped by her boyfriend.
Her boyfriend, Tobias “Toby” Maswahla is played by former Gomora actor Sicelo Buthelezi. Toby raped his girlfriend Ntswaki after she changed her mind about sleeping with him.
She misses calls from the Maputlas and tells Toby she has to go home. But her boyfriend, who has no idea she’s underage goes through with it, without her consent.

PLAYING NTSWAKI
The beauty queen and actress Lethabo Mekoa joined the educational soapie Skeem Saam in November 2022 as Ntswaki.
Her character is a 16-year-old, grade 10 learner at Turfloop High, who is both rebellious and smart.
In the storyline, Ntswaki was raped by her boyfriend, Toby Maswahla (played by Sicelo Buthelezi).
On Monday, 3 June episode, Ntswaki returned to Turfloop with her father after running away to her parents’ village.
She ran away after Detective Tsheole revealed that she lied about being a student at Turfloop University and lied to her boyfriend about her age.
The TVSA June teasers reveal that Ntswaki’s return to Turf High will not be easy.
