Good news for ex-Uzalo actress Baby Cele’s fans

Popular Mzansi actress Baby Cele is now ready to go back to work, this is after her ancestors felt abandoned and forced her to take a break from acting to fulfil their needs.

Shortly after leaving Uzalo, she joined Mzansi Wethu’s telenovela Sibongile & The Dlaminis.

She’s set to play the character of Samkelisiwe, who is Bab’ Ntombela’s sister.

The 52-year-old actress told the publication that she didn’t leave Uzalo, where she played Gabisile Mdletshe, to join the new show but left because of her spiritual journey.

“I just want to clarify one thing. When I left Uzalo, I was never looking into something else. My decision was about me and my spiritual journey. When Sibongile & The Dlaminis offer came, it took me months to accept it. I waited because I didn’t want to mess up things with my ancestors,” said Baby.

She said she has people who come to her for consultations and must go to the river for cleansing every Saturday, which was difficult for her because of her work schedule.

“This offer is different from the previous one. I have time for my ancestors and can fulfil my duties now. I’m not shooting on Saturdays, and I’m doing very well,” Baby said.

She left Uzalo in 2021 but made a dramatic return later in the same year. Now, it looks like she has left the show for good as she has found a new home.

According to the information sent to the publication, Samkelisiwe is an old friend of Phetheni (Ayanda MaNgubane Borotho) and Deliwe, played by Slindile Nodangala.

She’s set to turn some of the lives upside down in Ixopo.

“It looks like she’s set to shake things up for her friends Deliwe and Phetheni. The three met as young women and connected over their shared experience of being scammed. But she got the short end of the stick in this friendship trio, which set her on the path for revenge,” read part of the statement.

Baby defined Samkelisiwe as totally different from Gabisile.

She said that she’s down to earth and not out there.
