Uncle reveals late actor Don Mlangeni-Nawa fell ill in August

South Africa is mourning the loss of beloved actor Don Mlangeni-Nawa, who passed away on Wednesday morning, 16 April 2025, at the age of 65. His family confirmed his death in a heartfelt statement, revealing that he had been battling an undisclosed illness since August 2024.

According to Mlangeni’s uncle, veteran actor Mabutho “Kid” Sithole, the actor had been struggling with severe stomach pains and other health complications over the past eight months. Sithole told Sunday World, “He has not been well since August last year… he was struggling with some parts of his body and would experience stomach pains.”

While the exact cause of death remains unknown, his wife, Regina Nawa, stated that the family will announce further details in due course.

Sithole described Mlangeni as a gentle soul who avoided public debates, politics, or industry conflicts. “He was a simple fellow who loved what many artists loved. He enjoyed picnics and entertainment but stayed away from social issues and political matters,” he said.
