Celebrated radio host DJ Sbu – real name Sbusiso Leope – is making headlines after he announced his resignation from Radio 2000.
The celebrated radio host announced the news through a press statement issued on Monday, 24 February, ahead of his contract ending in March 2025.

His return to radio after a decade was something many didn’t picture after vowing not to work for the public broadcaster again.
Many thought his return to radio was more of an April Fool’s Day joke since he announced it on 1 April 2024.
This was a return to SABC after being fired from Metro FM for promoting his energy drink in 2015.
Part of his statement reads, “This serves to inform you that after much reflection and consideration, I have made the decision to resign as a morning radio host at Radio 2000, part of the South African Broadcasting Corporation.
“This decision comes earlier than the end of my contract, which was set to conclude on March 30, 2025.”
However, DJ Sbu not only confirmed his exit but also revealed that he is now set to launch a new breakfast show on a different platform.
“I am preparing for a brand new breakfast morning show that I am excited to launch on a different platform starting from April 1, 2025,” DJ Sbu said.

The celebrated radio host left many to guess about his new opportunity, offering a fresh chapter to his illustrious career.
“This new opportunity presents a fresh chapter in my career, and I am eager to embrace the possibilities that lie ahead,” he said.
The Big Breakfast show host also expressed gratitude to his work colleagues, management, and, most importantly, his loyal listeners.
DJ Sbu said, “I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has been a part of this incredible journey.”
