Dr Malinga is trending after he took to X, formerly Twitter, to share the heartwarming gesture of gifting his wife a new car. He captioned the now-viral post, “14 February is our Valentine and congratulations.”
In the now-viral video shared on the platform, the singer was seen surprising his wife with a Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon.
Netizens gave his gesture a nod, while petrolheads quickly mentioned the car’s price tag in the mix.
However, the car’s base price tag is R2 million at several dealerships around the country. Prices tend to differ due to the year of manufacture, trims, and modifications.
Dr Malinga’s Valentine’s Day gift comes barely a few days before the celebrations.
Several South African celebrities have gone all out of Valentine’s Day in recent years, with Lerato Kganyago’s husband always stealing the show.
The Day of Love has since been renamed after the celebrated radio host who received expensive gifts on the day, including partial hotel ownership.
After all, many were more than convinced that Dr Malinga had bounced back after being embroiled in tax woes with the South African Revenue Service.
In 2022, he made headlines when he revealed that he owed Sars around R2 million. As such, the hitmaker had many of his assets—including his car and furniture—auctioned to pay the penalty.
Against his woes, fans and other celebrities quickly donated funds to help him settle his debt.
