Well-known actor Mlungisi Mathe who recently returned to Umkhokha: The Curse as Sibusiso has joined Icala.

 

MLUNGISI MATHE: LATEST ROLE
Entertainment commentator Jabu Mcdonald reveals that Mlungisi Mathe has landed a role Icala season two.
“Actor and musician Mlungisi Mathe has joined the cast of Icala season two.”

Mathe will star alongside actors Lerato Mvelase as MaShandu, Bheki Sibiya as Hlabangani and Sana Mchunu as MaNxumalo.

The former Skeem Saam actor Mlungisi Mathe also recently reprised his role as Sibusiso in Umkhokha: The Curse.

This comes after the Mathe took a break from the faith-based telenovela in 2023 when Nkanyiso Mchunu’s character, Mlungisi committed suicide.

Mathe is also known for his role as Emkay in SABC1’s soapie Skeem Saam. In the soapie, Emkay also lost his best-friend Fanie Maseremule (played by Gift Mokhampanyane) who was murdered by Lehasa (played by Cedric Fourie) in 2021.

BACKGROUND OF ‘ICALA’
Icala is a Mzansi Magic drama series which revolves around a wife who takes revenge on her husband and his lover after he confesses his infidelity to her, according to TVSA.

A man, reckless and self-centred, thinks his death end is near. He spills the beans, confessing to his loving, revenge-driven wife about the child he fathered with her BFF.

The plot twist is that he does not die, his wife does not end their marriage. She decides to craft her own spine-chilling revenge on both the offenders.

The series was created and produced by Match Point Productions and written by Chris Q. Radebe who is also the executive producer.

Other actors on the show include Kennedy Stab as Phungula, Athie Cwele as Msizi, Velile Makhoba as Nomvelo.

As well as Xolani Ncobeni as Dongwe, Simangele Mthongo as Mam’Shokobezi and Thuli Zulu as MaNcwango.

The second season of Icala begins on 6 January 2025 at 8 pm on Mzansi Magic.”
