Harriet Manamela (born 13 October 1971) is a famous and legendary South African actress and television personality.
She is known for her role as Meikie Maputla in the SABC1 youth soapie Skeem Saam.
Harriet Manamela was born on the 13th of October 1971 in Diepkloof, South Africa. She was raised by both parents, who later moved to Johannesburg with their family in the early 1990s.Since then, she has partially resided in some parts of the country, but Johannesburg always calls her back.
Harriet Manamela matriculated from St. AnthAnthony’s in Boksburg. Her dream was to be an actress from childhood, so she decided to pursue her dream. She joined Squints Artists Community Theatre Group in Alexandra, and her debut performance was in The Virus and Let’s Talk About Aids at The Market Theatre Laboratory Annual Festival.She finished Broken Dreams at The Market Theatre Laboratory drama school and also appeared in Theatre Sports for SABC3, toured Sweden with Gommorah, Koze Kuse Bash, Ways of Dying, and Bozoli at The Market Theatre and The Grahamstown Arts Festival.
She also completed two years of the Young Writers Festival at The Market Theatre.Harriet Manamela’s television career began with Soul City, Isidingo, Yizo Yizo II, Justice For All II & III, Zero Tolerance, Soul Buddyz, and Behind The Badge in 1998. Dr. Lucille, Hijack Stories, Country of My Skull, and Yesterday are among the films. In My Other Mother, she played the major role.
In 2013, she appeared in the e.Tv serial opera Rhythm City as Nomzamo, Suffocate’s alcoholic mother who has been drinking cautiously for many years and uses alcohol as a coping strategy.
