He dropped out of the course with one year to go, due to financial difficulties. To make ends meet he tried to establish a campus radio station for Technikon Witwatersrand but he was turned down as he was no longer a student there. So he went back to Port Elizabeth where he joined an arts and culture group which toured schools, performing plays for schoolchildren. He later returned to Pretoria and studied drama at Technikon Pretoria, graduating in 2003.

Career
Zolisa Xaluva was cast as Lwazi Mboweni on SABC 1’s drama series Tsha Tsha season 3. In 2005 he was cast as Jason Malinga on SABC 1’s soap opera Generations. In 2006 the producers of Generations gave him time off to shoot season 4 of Tsha Tsha. In 2008 he landed a minor role on e.tv’s soap opera Rhythm City as HHP’s Manager, in the same year he appeared on SABC 1’s miniseries uGugu no Andile and SABC 1′ drama series Tshisa season 2.

In 2020, he landed the role of a school principal, Melusi in Mzansi Magic telenovela Gomora.
