POLOKWANE-Musician Lehlogonolo “Shebeshxt” Chauke will be able to attend the funeral of his nine-year-old daughter, Onthatile, on Saturday, thanks to special arrangements made with the hospital where he is currently being treated. This tragic event follows a fatal car accident in Limpopo on Saturday night that claimed the life of his daughter.

Family spokesperson and Shebeshxt’s lawyer, Lot Ramusi, confirmed the arrangements to the media. The family requested Shebeshxt’s medical team to release him from the hospital temporarily so that he can attend the funeral. He will return to the hospital for continued treatment after the ceremony.

Shebeshxt, who survived the car accident, is no longer in critical care and has been moved out of the intensive care unit. Ramusi provided an update on the musician’s condition, stating, “He is out of the ICU and has a moonboot on his leg. Shebeshxt is recovering quite well. He can talk, and he can actually even stand up. His focus is just on his recovery.”

The accident occurred as Shebeshxt was traveling to his girlfriend’s home to drop her and his daughter off before heading to an ANC Siyanqoba rally celebration concert in Lebowakgomo. His vehicle collided with a truck during the journey.

Ramusi mentioned that the family is coordinating with the hospital to ensure Shebeshxt can attend the funeral. “We are going to make arrangements with the hospital for them to take him there and bring him back after the funeral,” he said.

It remains unclear whether the funeral will be private or public, given the outpouring of public support from Shebeshxt’s fans. The family has not disclosed specific details about the service.

In addition to the family arrangements, the police have reached out to Shebeshxt as part of their investigation into the accident. They have requested a J88 form, which details the extent of his injuries, to aid in their investigation of the truck driver involved in the collision. However, Ramusi emphasized that the police are not investigating Shebeshxt for his daughter’s passing. “He will only give them that statement next week after the funeral,” Ramusi added.

The tragic loss of Onthatile has left the family and the public in mourning, and the arrangements for Shebeshxt to attend her funeral provide some solace during this difficult time.

The KZN Film and TV Awards remove the late Mpho Sebeng

THE nomination of the late Soweto-born actor Mpho Sebeng at the 11th Annual Simon Mabhunu Sabela KZN Film and Television Awards has sparked considerable confusion.

The awards, which are dedicated to recognising and honouring KZN talents, unexpectedly included Sebeng, who tragically died in a car accident.

He was posthumously nominated for Best Actor for Film for his role in “Ingoma,” alongside Kwenzo Ngcobo, Masoja Msiza, and Siyabonga Shibe.

The awards were officially launched in Durban on Thursday, 13 June, with the nominees announced for the ceremony scheduled at The Playhouse in Durban on 20 July.Ayanda Mthiyane, PR and event dpecialist at KZN Tourism and Film, addressed the oversight to Daily Sun.

“It has been brought to our attention that Mpho Sebeng, may his soul rest in peace, was not a resident of KZN. Consequently, his name has been withdrawn from the top four nominees. While this oversight is regrettable, the list of nominees for this category remains robust with three actors,” she explained.

Bass guitarist Philani Ngidi diesMthiyane further highlighted that the Simon Mabhunu Sabela KZN Film and TV Awards aim to celebrate and recognise the outstanding achievements of filmmakers and television professionals in KZN.

“These awards provide a platform to showcase the local film and television industry’s diverse talent, creativity, and innovation,” she said.

The nominees represent the diverse and dynamic talent pool in KZN.

Mpho’s sister, Lebogang Sebeng, said the family doesn’t wish to comment on the matter.

New owner accuses Zahara’s sisters of vandalising star’s house

Zahara’s sisters are homeless after the new owner of Zahara’s house kicked them out and threatened to fiIe a case of vandaIism and maIicious damage to property.
The late singer Zahara’s sisters are said to have destroyed her home, prompting the new owner of the Afro-pop sensation’s house to threaten to file a case of vandalism and malicious damage to property.

The sisters, Lumka Mkutukana and Bandezwa Mkutukana-Febana, also left some of the singer’s clothes, including dresses, shoes, bags, hats, and belts, scattered all over the house when they vacated the home on Friday night.

Zahara passed away at a private hospital in Johannesburg on December 11, 2023. This after she spent almost three weeks in the intensive care unit.

She was laid to rest in East London on December 23.The sisters had occupied the singer’s home in Little Falls, Roodepoort, since her passing and allegedly left the house in an inhabitable state when they were evicted last week.

They allegedly trashed the residence, stole the built-in stove. They also allegedly removed the ceiling and the wooden double garage doors, broke the front gate, and left poo in the pool.

An agent, who asked not to be identified, told Sunday World that the new owner of the home has asked that a criminal case be opened against the siblings for the alleged mess they have left behind.
Damage runs into thousands of rands
“They have caused damage that easily amounts to over R300 000,” said the agent.

“They stayed at this house rent-free for over six months. What kind of thanks is this? Who does this to someone else’s property?”

In pictures that Sunday World has seen, the house looks like it was ransacked by thieves, with the bathroom cabinet doors broken and missing, kitchen units pulled out, blinds falling off, and the garage ceiling pulled out.

The agent added that the late musician’s sisters initially left the house during the day on Friday. But they came back at night to allegedly trash it before leaving again.

“It makes no sense what they did there. It just screams of anger and ungratefulness. The owner is within his rights to open a case and is currently weighing his options,” the agent said.

When contacted for comment, the sisters’ phones rang unanswered.
Plan to sell the house
Sunday World reported on Friday that the Mkutukana sisters were in the process of selling Zahara’s furniture to the highest bidder through WhatsApp messages.

Oyama Dyosiba, Zahara’s cousin and former manager, declined to comment on the situation. Dyosiba claimed that the family had pushed him out of Zahara’s affairs soon after her passing.

Zahara’s husband, Mpho Xaba, informed Sunday World that he had been cut off from any discussions regarding his late wife.

Xaba added that he does not know where the musician was buried, despite still paying for her medical bills.

He claimed that the family had mistreated him. This is why he had gone to counselling to get well during his time of grief.
