OuPresident Mbumba sends condolences to Malawi after Malawian VP’s death

PRESIDENT Nangolo Mbumba has extended his condolences to President Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera of Malawi and the people of Malawi following the tragic passing of Malawian Vice President Saulos Klaus Chilima, the former First Lady of Malawi, Shanil Dzimbiri, and other Malawian nationals in an aircraft crash today.
“It is with profound shock and sadness that I have learned about the unfortunate inci dent involving a Malawi Defence Force aircraft crash, which led to the demise of the Right Hon ourable Dr Saulos Klaus Chilima, Vice President of the Republic of Malawi, the former First Lady of Malawi Madame Shanil Dzimbiri, and other Malawian nationals,” President Mbumba said.
The President said that he knew Dr Chilima as a leader with a deep affection for the people of Malawi and the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region, emphasising that his death is not only a loss to Malawi but to Africa as a whole.

President Lazarus Chakwera has just made the announcement minutes after images showing the wreckage of the plane that was carrying Chilima and 9 others started making rounds on social media.
It is a very difficult time for the nation as people still had hopes that the Vice-President and the others on board would be found alive.
