“Idols SA” season 12 runner-up Thami Shobede has died at age 31, as confirmed by Mzansi Magic on Thursday.

“As Mzansi Magic and Idols SA , we are saddened by the passing of our former Idols SA contestant Thami Shobede. Thami was a very talented musician with lots still to offer to the music industry. The “Sthandwa” singer died at Kalafong Hospital in Pretoria according to his record label Gallo Record Company.

Tributes have poured in following the announcement of his death from his fans mourning his death.

Hlengiwe Mhlaba at home recovering after serious crash – manager confirms

Cape Town – Gospel powerhouse Hlengiwe Mhlaba has been discharged from hospital and is back at home focusing on her recovery after she was involved in a serious car crash on Saturday afternoon.

The crash happened in the town of Melmoth, Northern KwaZulu-Natal.

The singer was travelling to Mpumalanga with her keyboard player for a series of gigs, Hlengiwe’s manager Thobile Mchunu tells DRUM.

The singer is taking a break from phone calls and has halted upcoming performances.

Hlengiwe allegedly lost control of her car which resulted in it rolling when she was trying to avoid another vehicle that was driving in her direction. Her spokesperson, Nkululeko  Khanye, told SowetanLive,

“On Saturday it was very wet when the accident happened. Hlengiwe saw a car that was driving straight towards her and tried to avoid it but lost control and the car rolled.”

Thobile confirmed that although the crash was serious, both Hlengiwe and her keyboard player are doing just fine.

“They are both doing really well even though the accident was serious,” she said.

Hlengiwe’s passenger sustained minor injuries and only went to the hospital for a checkup before he was discharged on the same day.

Hlengiwe Mhlaba Hospitalised After Serious Road Crash

Gospel star Hlengiwe Mhlaba was involved in a serious car accident on Saturday afternoon.

The accident happened in Melmoth, northern Zululand. The singer, who is known for her powerful voice was travelling to Mpumalanga where she was booked to perform.

According to her spokesperson Nkululeko Khanye, the singer’s car rolled when she tried avoiding an oncoming car that was driving towards her.

Mhlaba sustained serious internal injuries and was admitted at a hospital in Empangeni, Kwa-Zulu-Natal, where she is under doctors supervision.

“On Saturday it was very wet when the incident happened. Hlengiwe saw a car that was driving straight towards her and tried to avoid it but lost control and the car rolled.”

“We ask the nation to continue to pray for her speedy recovery as well ,” Khanye said.

Mhlaba has released albums such as Laphalala Igazi, Dwala Lami, Blessings, and Esandleni Somusa.
